Thanks to his incredibly soulful, highly versatile voice, Martin Sexton probably could have made a name for himself as merely a singer. Add in his deft songwriting touch and a distinctive, engaging guitar style, and Sexton becomes a true triple threat. Sexton recently stopped by the AG studios to talk about his latest release, Mixtape of the Open Road, and perform three songs from the album. We also discuss his “toolbox of vocal characters,” the development of his guitar approach, and how seeing the late, great Ted Hawkins inspired him to put down his pick for good.
