While on tour promoting their forthcoming album, Real MidnightBirds of Chicago stopped by Acoustic Guitar to perform three songs, talk about how they evolved from a duo to a collective, and reveal their songwriting process.

The husband-and-wife team, JT Nero and Allison Russell, have been playing together for years, but officially formed Birds of Chicago in 2012. They spend more than 10 months of the year on the road, and it shows in their tight harmonies and distinct sound, which blends folk, country, and soul.
