Jazz-Folk with Prawit Siriwat & Daniel Durst | Acoustic Guitar Sessions
While improv and exploration are key to the duo’s performance, restraint and simplicity have equal weight.
Prawit Siriwat and Daniel Durst are locked in. The two musicians have been playing together for many years, across many genres. Their collaborative musical history ranges from avant–garde sonic exploration to electric bebop jazz to backing up folk singer-songwriters.
This Session isn’t a dead bullseye in the center of those spaces, but floats in between a jazz-folk-improv continuum.“I think we are firmly rooted in a jazz tradition, but jazz is a broad term. And there is definitely a folk influence,” Siriwat says of their current sound.

Siriwat and Durst play three original compositions: “Nature Walk,” “Night Walker,” and “The Bar.” While improv and exploration are key to the duo’s performance, restraint and simplicity have equal weight.
Their chosen instruments also add to their individual, connected sound: “There has always been something really magical about this guitar (a 2017 Waterloo WL-12) and this upright bass,” Siriwat says. The origins of the bass are a little more murky, Durst believes it was made in the 1910s in Germany. Regardless, Durst believes the duo of instruments have “some type of darkness and warmth, it’s inspiring to hear them together.”

Just delightful !
