Meredith Moon’s Traveling Folk | Acoustic Guitar Sessions
The Canadian-born folksinger’s nimble guitar work and captivating vocals are on full display in this stripped-down session.
On a recent journey west, Meredith Moon parked her van at the Acoustic Guitar offices, unloaded her guitar and banjo, and played a couple tunes from her latest record, From Here to the Sea.

The Canadian-born folksinger got her start busking across her homeland, playing traditional guitar and clawhammer banjo. Traveling became a core part of her artistic practice: constantly touring and performing in decidedly non-traditional DIY venues, “hippie” festivals, dives, train yards, and campsites. You can feel that spirit of exploration—not to mention locomotive energy and natural serenity—in Moon’s songwriting. Her nimble guitar work and captivating vocals are on full display in this stripped-down acoustic session.

I love Meridith’s singing, playing and songwriting! I think i bought this CD before it even came out. I had listened to her on You Tube for a long time before i found out who her father was. It is totally cool how she established herself on YouTube and never even discussed her heritage. I was also months into listening to her before i ever saw her play guitar instead of banjo. She is wonderful on both!
Her picking style reminds me a bit of Steve Bell’s instrumentals, another great Canadian musician.
It’s refreshing to have you feature a Canadian artist.
You produce a great magazine, but we Canadians hunger for more content from the Great White North.
Love this ❤️
This stripped-down session sounds fantastic! I’m really curious about the tunes from *From Here to the Sea*—especially how her nimble guitar work translates on those specific tracks. It must be amazing to hear her music live after traveling in a van.
I am so taken with Meredith’s music. I was a lifelong fan of her dad’s music which led me to her but she stands on her own merit. She is not in his shadow. Her album From Here To The Sea has been on repeat in my house and I got to see her play at a little bar in my hometown of Fredericksburg Tx. She is a monumental talent!
That’s fantastic to hear about Meredith Moon’s stripped-down session! Her nimble guitar work sounds like the perfect showcase for her latest record, *From Here to the Sea*. I’m really curious how the banjo integrated into those acoustic arrangements—did it add a different texture than just the guitar alone?
Ear candy for an old hippy. ‘Spirit Guitar’ yep. Thank you Meredith moon
