NYC-based singer-songwriter Anthony D’Amato has quite the musician’s resume. At Princeton, he studied lyrics with Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon. For a summer, he worked at Martin Guitar as “shadow” for guitar historian Dick Boak. D’Amato’s also had a tenure working as a music publicist. None of that would mean anything if he wasn’t such a distinctive and compelling songwriter. To learn more about this engaging performer, check out this session with D’Amato, in which he talks about his approach to songwriting and guitar playing, and performs three songs from his latest release, The Shipwreck from the Shore.
