Two months ago, the Nigerian radio station CoolFM69—known for posting viral videos—put up a clip of Ronnie Moipolai from the Kopong Village of Botswana playing an acoustic guitar with a style and technique all his own. What’s blown minds on social media is his phenomenal virtuosity. As of this writing, the station’s Facebook posting of the video has been garnered 6.7 million views. Let’s put that number in context: Two months after its release, Taylor Swift’s album 1989—the biggest-selling album of 2014—sold 5.5 million copies.
