In 1978, the late Johnny Cash invited singer, songwriter, guitarist, actor, and Rhodes scholar Kris Kristofferson on to his holiday TV special to sing “Sunday Morning Coming Down,” the hangover song Kristofferson had written for Cash.


“Up to now, that was the proudest moment of my life,” a bashful, 42-year-old Kristofferson tells Cash in this video clip, referring to Cash’s recording of the song. “This might be the proudest.” — Mark Kemp
