OK, it’s not like this video is an acoustic guitar showcase particularly, but it’s a very cool version of Leonard Cohen in 1979, playing a nylon-string guitar, fronting one of his typically fantastic bands, playing what was for most of his career, his most famous song (but eclipsed near the end by “Hallelujah”)
Cohen is the subject of a recently released, critically acclaimed documentary by director Nick Broomfield called Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love, about Cohen’s career and the long, special relationship between the singer-songwriter and a woman often described as his “muse,” Marianne Ihlen. The two met on the Greek island of Hydra in 1960, and remained friends for the rest of their lives, both of which ended in 2016.
