Hard to believe it’s been 40 years since Elvis Costello’s dynamite first album, My Aim Is True, arrived on these shores to great acclaim (including from yours truly, in the SF Bay Guardian weekly). What an amazingly fresh talent he was in those early days of the New Wave! And he just got better and better through the years as he developed more as both a songwriter and singer. Though he and his band, the Attractions, were aggressively electric in that era, over time Elvis has whipped out the ol’ acoustic guitar many times both on record and on stage. So let’s celebrate this auspicious anniversary with a solo acoustic re-working from a couple years ago of one of the coolest songs from My Aim is True—Blair Jackson
