The Best Concert You Ever Headlined
From our friends at Guitar Mash:
In an increasingly disconnected world, Guitar Mash creates community through its signature Urban Campfires — participatory music and storytelling events led by world-class guitarists and singer-songwriters that change how we experience music and connect with each other.
On Sunday afternoon, November 17th, you and your guitar are invited to the 8th Annual NYC Urban Campfire at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City’s West Village. Come play and sing along with legends Dion and The Lovin’ Spoonful’s John Sebastian, and legends-to-be Amythyst Kiah, Tash Neal and Sammy Brue, as they lead the songs that shaped them. Guitar Mash alums Jimmy Vivino, Scott Sharrard and Brandon “Taz” Niederauer will also take part, all led by guitarist and Mash artistic director Mark Stewart (Paul Simon). Guitars and musical training are not requirements – anyone and everyone are encouraged to join in the communal experience.
Each Urban Campfire features chord coaches helping the audience tune up and get comfy, with the charts for each song projected for easy follow-along. For those who play but don’t have a guitar with them, Recording King is making a number of loaner guitars available. Following the event, the guitars will be contributed to Guitar Mash community partners in need of instruments.
The Guitar Mash Urban Campfire got its start in 2012 in a living room in Lower Manhattan, and since has played to sold-out venues annually in New York and Nashville. Artists featured over the years have included Jason Isbell, Ani DiFranco, Nels Cline, Nicole Atkins, Buddy Miller, Vernon Reid, Kaki King, Valerie June and Larry Campbell. See what some of them have had to say about their Guitar Mash experience and why you should plan to join!
Le Poisson Rouge is in Greenwich Village, NYC. Tickets are $40, or $15 for students, available here: bit.ly/UrbanCampfireNYC2019
