A 1959 Gibson L model acoustic guitar that Prince used to sketch out some of his earliest songs is up for auction at Nate D. Sanders Auctions in Los Angeles. Starting bid: $60,000.

Prince’s ex-wife Mayte Garcia and former manager Owen Husney put the guitar up for auction along with demo tapes, handwritten lyrics, and lots of stage costumes and accessories including a pair of sparkly handcuffs.
If you can’t afford the guitar — or even the cheesy $1,000 wedding china, complete with the unpronounceable symbol Prince used as his name briefly in the ’90s, surrounded by that famous ’80s graphic touch, black-and-white piano keys — you can at least listen to this far-out fellow talk about and play his own Gibson L model from about 50 years earlier.
