D’Addario Guitar Strings recently put up a couple of terrific video interviews — one of guitarist Jackie Greene (Black Crowes, Bob Weir) interviewing Sean Watkins (Nickel Creek, Watkins Family Hour), and another of guitarist and Americana singer John Oates, formerly of the hit-making R&B duo Hall & Oates.

In both, the players talk about style, technique, guitars, and influences.

In the Oates video, he talks about why Doc Watson is a major influence. “He just had a touch and a style and a feel — and the skill level was off the charts,” Oates says. “To this day there’s so many great fingerstyle players out there, but no one touches Doc Watson.”
