Brazil’s Seu Jorge Tours Acoustic Tribute to David Bowie [Video]

Brazilian samba revivalist Seu Jorge will kick off a brief David Bowie tribute tour on Nov. 4 in Miami, Florida. The singer and guitarist, best known in the U.S. for his Bowie covers in the 2004 Wes Anderson film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, released an album of those songs, The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions, in 2005.

In his native country, Jorge is recognized for much more than his Bowie covers — he’s recorded numerous albums since the early 2000s and performed with Brazilian music legend Caetano Veloso.

According to a report posted Monday at Billboard.com:

[I]n a tribute to Bowie, the Brazilian singer/songwriter will reprise his Portuguese bossa-flavored covers of “Ziggy Stardust,” “Rebel, Rebel,” “Life on Mars?” and other tracks during a series of Life Aquatic concerts. Images from the film will play on screens shaped like boat sails during the themed shows.
