My line 6 acoustic 700 arrived on thursday the 19th. I'm sending it back Monday the 23rd. Sounds pretty good sitting around struming. But when I took it to a gig and really played if hard, it sounded like a 30 dollar stella. I really wanted to like this gitar, but there is no way. They have a nice idea but are a long way from getting it right. The alternate tunning is a breeze to work, it just sounds very bad. When they come out with a newer better model I'll be the first to try it. Like I said I reaLLY WANTED THIS GUITAR TO WORK it just didn't. I think line 6 should deep 6 this one.

Thanks for following up on your initial report, Andy.

I can empathize with your frustration. Most of my disappointment, with the various thin-bodied stage guitars which I've tried, has been with their lack of responsiveness to hard strumming. With the Acoustic 700 you have the additional element of the onboard compression to keep track of. Inadvertantly having a substantial amount of compression dialed in would further compromise the guitar's responsiveness.

On the plus side, the Acoustic 700's string saddle assembly appears to be easily adjustable. It should be easy enough to raise the action, if a higher action is needed to accomodate an aggressive playing style. I bring this up because raising the saddle height on my RMC-equipped Godin Multiac was a major pain. Once I got the brass shims (which Godin supplied) under the RMC individual string saddles, several of the saddles were perilously close to popping out of the saddle slot. I give the Line 6 folks (or the LR Baggs folks) credit for putting all the Variax's hex saddles in an assembly which can be easily adjusted.

At any rate, Andy, its apparent that the Acoustic 700 isn't the stage guitar for you. Thanks for following up with the gig report, and good luck in finding the stage guitar that works for you - presuming that you need the high feedback resistance of a stage guitar.

I'm just in the midle of rasing the action to see if that will help. Light strumming and figure picking seem to sound fine on the 700 with the action it came with. I'm going to keep it a little longer. Try changing strings , changing action ect. I'll keep you posted.

I rasied the action on the 700, put new strings on that were not so bright, ran it through an effects processor with reverb and chours. Now it is begining to sound like it should when you really get on it. Not as good as a nice wood guitar, but okay. Sat in with a 4 piece country band last night and was pleased as to how it cut through the bass, drums and Martin Dread. My friend has a recording studio, and after recording a few of the sounds on the 700 has put in an order for one of his own. As for me, I'm still debating. My wife likes it becouse it's so easy to play compared to a big old Dread. So if the wife likes it, I'm guessing the 700 will stay!!!
