NEW AT NAMM
While the Summer NAMM show, held in Nashville July 17–19, was smaller than in previous years, the mood among exhibitors and attendees was upbeat and positive, and there were more new products released than many had expected. Here’s a sample of the new guitars and gear that caught our eyes. To see video of some of these new models demoed by their manufacturers on the NAMM floor, go to AcousticGuitar.com/video

MARTIN D12 DAVID CROSBY
Martin introduced a number of signature models, including an MC-38 Steve Howe, an MC-18 Woody Mann, D-28 Dan Tyminski, and D12 David Crosby. The 12-string David Crosby model is a re-creation of a D-18 that Crosby had converted to a 12-string by Berkeley, California, luthier John Lundberg in the 1960s. It combines a standard D-18 body with a 12-fret, long-scale neck that moves the bridge back into the lower bout of the guitar. The guitar also has a six-string style bridge, with each pair of strings sharing a single bridge-pin. VIDEO martinguitar.com

HEADWAY EDB-1 PREAMP/DI
The British amplification experts Headway unveiled a two-channel preamp/DI. The EDB-1 accepts one 1/4-inch and one XLR input or a single TRS stereo input and includes an individual gain control for each channel, five-band EQ, mute, notch filter, and phantom power. headwaymusicaudio.com

YAMAHA NX SERIES
Yamaha’s new line of acoustic-electric nylon-strings was developed with nylon-string shredders Rodrigo y Gabriela. The top-of-the-line NCX2000 is available with flamed maple or Indian rosewood back and sides and, like the entire line, is outfitted with Yamaha’s A.R.T. pickups and onboard electronics. The NX series includes six instruments at various price levels, with 12- or 14-fret necks and fretboards that range from almost standard classical width to thinner, steel-string dimensions. OLYMPUS LS-11
The LS-11 is the second generation of Olympus’s LS-series digital recorders. The LS-11 has 8 GB of built-in memory, onboard speakers, built-in stereo mics, and records up to 24 bits/96 kHz. olympusamerica.com

WECHTER NASHVILLE SPECIAL
In a tribute to the NAMM show’s summer home, Wechter Guitars introduced a new model designed for high-strung Nashville tuning. The Nashville Special has a parlor-size body with a cutaway, solid cedar top, and Fishman electronics. VIDEO wechterguitars.com

PAIGE CLIK CAPO
Paige Musical Products’ new Clik capo has a two-stage adjustment process, starting with a push-button ratcheting mechanism and finishing with an adjustment screw that tightens the capo to the exact pressure needed. paigemusical.com

TANGLEWOOD MASTERDESIGN SERIES
One of the major players in Britain’s acoustic guitar market, Tanglewood Guitars introduced the MasterDesign series, designed by Swedish luthier Michael Sanden and available in auditorium, grand auditorium, or jumbo sizes with Tibetan Sitka spruce tops and either mahogany or Kerala Indian rosewood backs and sides. tanglewoodguitars.com
