Guitar Instructor, String Letter Music School, San Anselmo, California

If you have the skills to teach guitar to students of many different ages, skill levels, and musical interests, plus the ability to conceive, compose, and notate guitar instruction plans and lesson materials of publication-level quality, please apply for the position of Guitar Instructor at the String Letter Music School, the community-based division of String Letter Publishing.

Since 1986, String Letter Publishing has been serving guitarists and string players with its award-winning magazines, Acoustic Guitar and Strings, as well as a line of related reference and instructional books, and since 1995 with outstanding web sites and digital content as well. For 2009, we are launching the new String Letter Music School, located in San Anselmo, California, serving the communities of the Ross Valley and Marin County.

To qualify for this position, you need (1) experience in guitar teaching; (2) demonstrated creative abilities in writing, composing, or both; (3) the ability to form, direct, and coach small student ensembles for both practice and performance; and (4) the organizational and technical skills to assist in the production of your lesson materials for publication in print and video.

The Guitar Instructor works as a member of a team of part-time and guest instructors and reports to the Publisher. The position currently guarantees a minimum of 20 hours per week, with a combination of a base hourly wage plus additional fees for each student served.
